Listen Again
In September 2016, Living It Up opened an educational centre for performing and creative arts. Now hugely successful and running Monday to Thursday 9:30am - 3:30pm at St. Cuthbert's Hall in Bedford.
Our experts teach workshops on art, drama, singing, dance, radio presenting, podcasting, DJing, film making, photography, song-writing and more. We find people who attend our sessions have a lot of fun, learn new skills and grow hugely in confidence.
We love showcasing our new skills and give opportunities for people to perform in one of our bands, radio presenting, live DJing, theatre shows, online TV shows to name a few.
LIVING IT UP PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE
Music is hugely popular at the Performing Arts Centre. Our members have a great time singing and playing instruments at our sessions. We form bands where members play their own instruments, perform cover songs and write originals. 1:1 song-writing sessions often unearth some powerful opportunities for self-expression and communication.
Confidence and self-esteem are hugely boosted, especially after one of our live performances. Music allows learners to express themselves and their unique personalities. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone is touched in some way by the power of music. Our learners give their hearts and souls in to every performance and with so much genuine enthusiasm, energy and talent, the audience are ALWAYS wowed!
MUSIC, SINGING and BANDS
Our fantastic drama group is very popular. We primarily focus on two major projects every year: a TV or video-based series which is filmed then streamed online, and a live theatre performance. We are always having fun with green screens and technology to help our ideas come to life.
Our members are encouraged to develop their creative thoughts into workable ideas. We love the fact they take a lead in writing, rehearsing and producing pieces of work that are lively, original and full of energy and creativity!
From our first production of the crazy and surreal 'Banana Cheesecake' to our insanely high-energy 'Pantomania', our performances raise roofs inside packed theatres. Be sure to keep your eye out for our next show!
DRAMA and THEATRE
Tune in to Living It Up FM every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 1pm - 3pm for lots of music, chat, quizzes, interviews, jokes and games! There is never a dull moment and we love to hear from listeners with requests and shout-outs. Each member has a unique slot to present on the show and all production elements are supported by fellow DJs.
Play along with DJ 80s' famous quiz, laugh at DJ Joker's hilarious quips, dance along to DJ Old Kessinger's Clubzone, chill out to DJ Denton's singing ....we have it all going on!
We currently use MixLR to broadcast our show. You can listen via the app which is a free download or at the top of this page. We also record regular podcasts. All of our previous shows and podcasts from the Performing Arts Centre are saved on our MixLR page available by clicking 'listen again' at the top of the page.
RADIO SHOW and PODCASTING
The Living It Up Choir rehearse weekly, working hard on techniques and arrangements to build up sets to perform at various shows, parties and events. Songs range from old classics to reworked versions of modern anthems.
The choir is great therapy - it provides an important social aspect to members' lives, cheers people up, provides plenty of physical benefits, and boosts members' creativity and confidence!
If you're interested in joining as a member or as a volunteer, please do get in touch!

DANCE, ART and MEDIA
In addition to all these fantastic activities, we run multi-genre dance sessions at the centre with professional dance tutors. We create and rehearse routines which we feed in to our theatre and drama projects. Dance is great fun, very expressive and excellent exercise!
Art is always available for our members and we run many continuous creative projects. Canvas painting, model making, lino printing, puppets, cards and crafts are all popular activities.
Throughout the year, our members may choose an activity such as DJing, photography or film-making which our staff will then provide sessions for.
